The United States Ambassador to Nigeria, Amb. Stuart Symington, on Sunday the 4th of November, 2018 visited Slum2School Africa.<\/p>

Symington visited the organization accompanied by its founder, Orondaam Otto and other diplomatic members of the Embassy and Consulate.<\/p>

\u00a0<\/p>

He held an interactive session with hundreds of children who have benefited from the organization over the past years and inspired the children, reminding them that the greatest resource Nigeria has is not its crude oil or other mineral resources but its people and they represent the future of Nigeria. He also shared his inspiring story and charged them to pursue their education and aspire to make Nigeria a greater nation.<\/p>

The Ambassador spoke about the impact that Nigeria has in promoting peace and development within the African continent and across the world and said that such impact can only be sustained when the everyone invests in the youth of the nation and the education of its children. He was presented an award by one of Slum2School\u2019s beneficiary, Oseni Mustapha who appreciated him for visiting and for inspiring them through his words and support.<\/p>

Speaking about his visit, the founder of Slum2School Africa, Mr Orondaam Otto said that as an organization their focus is working in partnership with the government, various institutions, embassies and individuals, including corporate organizations to ensure that every child across Nigeria and Africa has an opportunity to get accessible quality education and grow up to contribute towards the growth of the nation.<\/p>

He said, as a Mandela Washington Fellow, the US believes in the impact that Slum2School creates and supports some of its beneficiaries through the provision of educational support materials, instructional materials and psycho-social support. He said that millions of children are still out-of-school and everyone needs to come together to ensure that every child is given an equal opportunity to education.<\/p>

Symington went around the community using a canoe, during which he met parents of the children and leaders of the Makoko community.<\/p>

In his closing remarks, the ambassador encouraged everyone to do more to support Slum2School in enrolling more out-of-school into schools.<\/p>
