Job Overview


Slum2School Africa, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities to marginalized children, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Digital Marketing Manager. This role is integral to driving the organization’s mission by enhancing our digital presence, expanding our outreach, and increasing engagement with key stakeholders such as donors, partners, and the community. The Digital Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing and executing comprehensive digital marketing strategies that align with the organization’s brand, goals and vision. The ideal candidate will be creative, data-driven, and passionate about social change, with a proven track record of executing successful digital campaigns. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and excellent communication skills to effectively manage digital marketing campaigns, drive audience engagement, and amplify Slum2School’s impact across social media platforms, websites, and digital channels.

 

Key Responsibilities

Digital Marketing Strategy Development and Execution

  • Strategic Planning: Develop and implement comprehensive digital marketing strategies to increase Slum2School Africa’s brand awareness, engagement, donations, and recruitment efforts. This will involve both short-term campaigns and long-term strategy formulation.

  • Campaign Planning and Execution: Take charge of planning, launching, and managing all digital marketing campaigns, ensuring they align with organizational goals, such as fundraising, advocacy, and increasing awareness around educational challenges faced by marginalized children.
  • Audience Targeting: Identify key target audiences across multiple channels and devise strategies to reach them effectively. Focus will be placed on donor engagement, volunteer recruitment, and the mobilization of advocates for Slum2School’s mission.
  • Trend Monitoring: Stay on top of emerging trends and digital marketing strategies, analyzing their potential to increase engagement and relevance within Slum2School’s work. Offer recommendations on new platforms, tools, and technologies.
  • Competitive Analysis: Monitor and analyze the activities of similar organizations and key competitors in the sector to stay ahead of trends and remain competitive in the digital space.

Content Creation and Management

  • Content Strategy: Lead the development of content that aligns with the Slum2School brand and voice. Content will span across digital platforms, including social media, email newsletters, blogs, the organization’s website e.t.c.
  • Content Creation: Take charge of content creation, including writing compelling social media posts, email marketing copy, blog articles, and stories highlighting success stories, beneficiaries, and other relevant topics.
  • Creative Direction: Develop multimedia content (videos, infographics, photos) to tell powerful stories of how Slum2School is impacting communities.
  • SEO Strategy: Implement search engine optimization (SEO) best practices for all digital content, ensuring that it ranks well on search engines, reaches the target audience effectively, and generates organic traffic.

Social Media Management and Community Engagement

  • Platform Management: Oversee the management and growth of Slum2School’s presence on social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, TikTok, and YouTube. Craft engaging brand aligned posts that reflect the organization’s mission and encourage interaction.
  • Community Building: Actively engage with online communities by responding to comments, initiating conversations, and managing direct messages. Create a strong, responsive online community that is invested in the mission of Slum2School.
  • Campaign Execution: Design and execute social media campaigns to promote key initiatives, events, fundraising drives, and advocacy actions. Utilize paid ads when necessary to expand reach and drive action.
  • Data Analysis and Optimization: Regularly analyze social media performance through metrics like reach, engagement, and conversions, adjusting strategies as needed to increase effectiveness and maximize outcomes.

Public Relations and Media Engagement

  • Media Relationships: Develop and maintain positive relationships with key media outlets, influencers, and partners in the education, nonprofit, and social impact sectors. Use these relationships to amplify Slum2School’s message.
  • Press Materials: Write and distribute press releases, articles, and media kits to promote the organization’s work, events, and key accomplishments.
  • Campaign Support: Facilitate partnerships with media outlets for event promotion, storytelling, and feature opportunities that elevate the profile of Slum2School’s initiatives.

Analytics, Reporting, and Continuous Improvement

  • Tracking Campaigns: Use analytics tools (Google Analytics, Facebook Insights, etc.) to track the performance of digital campaigns and measure key performance indicators (KPIs) such as website traffic, social media engagement, and conversion rates.
  • Data-Driven Insights: Regularly analyze performance data and create detailed reports to share with leadership and relevant teams. These insights will guide strategy adjustments and improve future campaign effectiveness.
  • Content Audits: Conduct periodic content audits to assess the accuracy, relevance, and performance of digital assets. Identify areas for improvement and optimize digital resources accordingly.
  • Optimization: Continuously test and optimize content, campaigns, and strategies using A/B testing, audience segmentation, and other data-driven approaches.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Audience Engagement: Increase engagement rates (likes, shares, comments, retweets, etc.) across all social media platforms.
  • Campaign Effectiveness: Measure the success of campaigns through key metrics such as conversion rates, click-through rates (CTR), and donation generation.
  • Growth in Online Presence: Achieve targeted growth in followers and subscribers across digital channels, expanding Slum2School’s online community.
  • Content Performance: Increase web traffic through SEO optimization and content marketing, with higher rankings for targeted keywords.
  • Fundraising Impact: Drive digital fundraising efforts, including increasing the number of donors, improving donation conversion rates, and maximizing event participation through digital channels.
  • Media Coverage: Track the number of media placements, influencer collaborations, and partnerships that help amplify the organization’s message.

Each Green Academy provides 250+ underserved children with free, high-quality education. Scholarships cover tuition and also books, meals, healthcare, psychosocial support, and skills development, ensuring every child has the tools to thrive.

Classrooms are designed with circular, open-air structures that maximize natural airflow and light. This reduces heat, lowers energy use, and creates healthier learning environments, without the need for costly air conditioning.

Rainwater Systems

Green Academies are built with rooftop rainwater collection systems. Rainwater is stored, filtered, and treated to provide safe drinking water for students, teachers, and the wider community-improving health and reducing time spent fetching water.

Gardens & Biodiversity

Outdoor gardens and biodiversity spaces make learning hands-on and holistic. Children grow food, study ecosystems, and learn sustainable
agriculture. These green spaces also support nutrition programs, providing fresh produce for students.

For many communities, Green Academies provide their very first internet connection. Through satellite technology, children gain access to digital learning, global knowledge, and virtual mentorship. It also connects teachers and families to new opportunities and resources.
