OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The primary purpose of the Field Supervisor role is to ensure the efficient and effective management of our football pitch, with a focus on maintaining its quality, promoting community engagement, and fostering a safe and enjoyable environment for all users. By overseeing maintenance activities, managing bookings, enforcing safety standards, and cultivating relationships with stakeholders, the Field Supervisor plays a pivotal role in facilitating access to the pitch while upholding standards of excellence and promoting the benefits of sports and recreation within the community.

The ideal candidate would possess a genuine passion for football, excellent communication and organizational skills, and a keen attention to detail. The candidate should demonstrate a customer service orientation, problem-solving abilities, and a collaborative approach to working with others. Flexibility, a commitment to safety, and a proactive attitude towards community engagement are also essential qualities for success in this role.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY

  • As the Field Supervisor, you will be overseeing day-to-day operations of the sports facility, including scheduling, maintenance, cleanliness, security, and overall functionality.
  • Oversee the management of the facility operations, and stay updated with industry trends, and effective communication and collaboration.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations, maintaining emergency procedures, and implementing health and safety protocols to protect all users.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the football pitch to assess its condition.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for individuals and groups interested in using the football pitch, and manage scheduling to ensure fair and equitable access for all community members.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of facilities, equipment, and infrastructure, as well as managing contracts with vendors and service providers. Ensure that all equipment, such as goalposts and nets, is properly maintained and in good working condition.
  • Identify and mitigate risks related to facility operations, such as security threats, liability issues, and emergency preparedness.
  • Prepare regular reports detailing usage statistics, maintenance activities, and any issues or concerns that arise.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings or revenue generation through innovative management practices.
  • Develop relationships with local teams, schools, and organizations to promote the use of the pitch and foster a sense of community involvement.
  • Lead the contract management process, developing key relationships, driving cost reduction and service delivery.

 

TEAM LEADERSHIP

  • Managing the day-to-day activities of the sport facility.
  • Ensure that all users align with the organization’s by-laws and ensure a sustainable culture is sustained.
  • Communicate challenges, assistant needs, or logistical issues to the relevant stakeholders in a timely manner.
  • Actively seek feedback, listen attentively, and incorporate stakeholder input into decision-making processes.

 

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • HND Degree
  • Previous experience in groundskeeping, facility management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse range of individuals.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to accommodate community events.
  • Knowledge of football pitch maintenance techniques and safety standards is advantageous.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as part of a team.
  • A passion for football and a commitment to promoting sports and recreation within the community is highly desirable.

 

SKILL AND COMPETENCE

  • Knowledge of football pitch turf maintenance techniques and safety standards is advantageous.
  • Awareness of environmental considerations in turf management, such as water conservation practices and the use of eco-friendly products.
  • Being meticulous in monitoring the condition of the pitch, identifying any irregularities or hazards, and taking appropriate action to rectify them.
  • Awareness of safety regulations and standards pertaining to sports fields to ensure the pitch is safe for players and spectators.
  • Capacity to identify issues with the playing surface and implement effective solutions, whether it involves repairing turf damage, or addressing drainage problems.
